(SEPOY ?) HOD(?)OER SING, KUMAON BATTALION. Indian Mutiny Medal, 1 clasp, Delhi (officially named, engraved in running script: (Sepoy ?) Hod(?)oer Sing, Kumaon Battn.). Scattered edge nicks and surface contact marks overall, possibly from contact with other medal(s), partially obscuring elements of naming, as indicated, but the name "Sing" and Kumaon Battalion elements of the naming legible, otherwise attractively toned, Good Fine or perhaps a little better, and with a short length of original ribbon.
The Kumaon Battalion (3rd Gorkha Rifles) saw service with Colin Campbell's Third Column at Delhi in 1857, taking part in the storming of the Kashmiri Gate. The battalion also saw service in the Bhootan expedition of December 1864 to February 1866.
